2014 Red Sox

With baseball appearing at Fenway Park for the first time this year, it's time for a few predictions.

The Red Sox will go 85-77 .525

One of either Xander Bogaerts or Will Middlebrooks will be traded.

Dustin Pedroia will be 20-20 with a .295 average.

No single pitcher will win 20 games.

The AL East will be very close with The Red Sox taking the division.
The NY Yankees will finish in the basement.

Mike Napoli will lead the team in Home Runs.

David Ortiz will hit 25 Home Runs and have 90 RBI's.

Koji Uehara will have at least 33 saves.

The Red Sox will make it to the post season, but The Reds are my pick for the World Series.

Multiple Pitchers On The DL

So you have 4 pitchers on the DL?
Hamels
Darvish
Iwakuma
Parnell

What to do?

With only 1 DL spot, That's where Hamel's sits It leaves 3 players taking up space,
Parnell will probably be out for 6 weeks, or have Tommy John surgery so he is gone.

That means I'd now have

Hamels
Darvish
Iwakuma

With
David Price
Trevor Rosenthal
Sergio Romo
Zack Wheeler
Bartolo Colon

I need at least one more starter, so Parnell out and a 100+ pitch count pitcher, somebody who always goes at least 6 innings. I could also drop Russell Martin bench Catcher and alternate with Slated Starting Pitchers
& Cathcer when Salvador Perez or the Royals have an off day.

But which 2 pitchers are available.

John Lackey & Michael Pineda are both available, Lackey is slated to start April  7th at Fenway against the Rangers after getting of to a W in his first start, where as Pineda will be in Toronto on Saturday. Given the option I'd take Pineda for this one.

As for who else, I'd go with a PP for today, options are Quite good and I'm going to go with
Jose Quintana for the White Sox starting against another option Phil Hughes of the Twins.

So, With Darvish, Iwakuma & Hamels out, I'm still going to get an okay number of innings, but will have to play more daily, which doesn't bother me.
